Several alumni of this program have GONE ON TO PLAY major junior, college, or professional hockey. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON REALISTIC GAME PLAY TO DEVELOP DYNAMIC SKILLS ON AND OFF THE ICE AND IS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR OUR ATHLETES TO REACH THEIR MAXIMUM POTENTIAL.

Coach Mike - Founder & Head Coach

 Mike is a retired professional hockey player originally from Whitestone, New York. Mike started his hockey career playing in the Long Island Amateur Hockey League for the Great Neck Bruins and later, the Greater New York Stars and the Long Island Edge as well as playing 4 years of Varsity hockey at Saint Francis Preparatory School.

After high school, Mike went on to play Juniors hockey for the Metro Fighting Moose of the Continental Hockey Association and the New York Bobcats of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League.

In 2010-2011, Mike played for the ACHA D1 Stony Brook Seawolves.

In 2011-2012, Mike signed his first professional contract with the Brooklyn Aviators of the FHL and finished the season with the Delaware Federals of the FHL. Since 2011-2012, Mike has continued his pro hockey career in the FHL playing for the Cape Cod/ New York Bluefins, the Berkshire Battalion, and the Steel City Warriors.

In 2008, Mike became the Associate Head Coach of the Saint Francis Prep Terriers; a position he has held for over 15 years. he has personally helped hundreds of athletes develop and navigate through the high school hockey system and move on to highly successful Junior and college programs.

mike is a certified personal trainer and has received his credentials from the American Fitness Institute. He looks forward to bringing his extensive hockey knowledge back to the athletes of the LIAHL and the CHSHL, as well as to all of New York State.




Coach chris “Shanny”- Skill development coach



Chris is a former student of the Top Shelf Hockey Program. Chris started his competitive hockey career at age 12 with the Great Neck Bruins PeeWee team and soon thereafter decided he wanted to take his game to the next level and joined the Top Shelf Team.



In the years that followed, Chris developed his game on both the offensive and defensive side of the puck, eventually going on to play for the Suffolk Juniors Program in 2012-2013 and the Metro Fighting Moose Junior Hockey Program in 2013-2014. From 2014-2016 Chris moved on to play for the New Jersey Hitmen Junior Hockey Program and eventually the Connecticut Nighthawks Junior Hockey Program.



Chris played NCAA Hockey for Daniel Webster College, playing his Freshman and Sophomore years there before making the decision to finish school at home to play for ACHA Stony Brook University Ice Hockey.



Today, Chris is a coach at the prestigious Long island gulls organization and continues to develop the next generation of athlete on long island.


Coach James “JT”- Skating and scoring specialist

JT hall began his playing career on Long Island playing youth hockey and quickly became a stand out hockey player. In 2010, JT played his first of 3 seasons with the long island Royals in the METJHL amassing over 150 points and eventually playing college hockey for stony brook university where he was named ACHA player of the year during his distinguished 4 year career and earned over 170 points.

In 2017 JT traveled to Europe and played in the German Professional hockey league for tev miesbach averaging over a point per game and eventually finishing his playing career in the southern professional hockey league with the fayetteville marksmen.

Today JT works with athletes of all levels looking to improve their skating and scoring touch around the net.

Coach chris Wynne - Defensive coach

Chris is from Inwood Manhattan before he moved to Rockland county where he played for the Ramapo Saints organization and eventually Suffern High School. While at Suffern he went on to accumulate 3 All county awards and 2nd Team All State in 2007 while leading the team to 3 state final fours. He played 16U AAA with the Avalanche before playing Junior B in the MetJHL as 17 year old where they named him captain. He committed to Castleton State (NCAA) and played for their hockey team. Chris transferred to Wagner college and then William Paterson University. At William Paterson, Chris was a part of 3 Conference championships and 1 final four appearance. In 2012 Chris was named 2nd Northeast ACHA D2. Chris then joined William Paterson in 2015 as an associate coach. under his leadership, William Patterson university won another two conference championships and made 3 more national tournament appearances.

Now living on long island, CHris aims to help the next generation of defensemen develop their vision and skills.



coach anthony “modes” - Offensive coach

Anthony was a trainee of Top Shelf Hockey Clinics for over 5 years while playing junior hockey in the metjhl for Suffolk PAL. Anthony continued to train with top shelf hockey throughout his college hockey career while playing for acha Boston College.

After his first summer with THS clinics Anthony elevated to a point per player game for Suffolk Juniors in the 2012-2013 season. During the same year as a senior in high school, he also represented Jericho/East Williston Varsity hockey in the Long Island championship game, winning the long island high school hockey championship and winning Long Island MVP and concluding a 22—0-1 season for the club. Subsequently, he was a starter on the Boston College Men’s ACHA Ice Hockey team as a freshman and continued to excel in his college hockey career reaching the regional playoff championship game three out of four years during his college tenure.

Anthony continues to pay it forward and pass on his knowledge of the game of hockey and what its challenging road entails to those whose journeys have just begun. He feels his success not only in the realm of hockey, but in life is largely due to the life lessons he has learned from the TSH crew and wishes to carry on that paradigm for those willing to accept it going forward.

Anthony recently graduated from medical school as an aspiring sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon, but his drive to educate and relay his hockey knowledge he has gathered from years as a TSH trainee continues to grow. Anthony is very excited for the opportunity to coach with such an esteemed and well-established program as well as pass on the hockey/life lessons he has gathered from the excellent program.




Coach Chuck - Stick handling and scoring specialist

Chuck grew up in Hauppauge, NY where he played AAA travel hockey for the PAL Jr. Islanders organization of the USPHL from mites to juniors. Chuck was the leading scorer and captain for the Jr. Islanders in his final junior hockey season. Chuck reached 100 points in varsity high school hockey for St. John the Baptist and led his team to the NYSAHA State Championship title in 2014-2015.

Chuck went on to play four years of college hockey for Stony Brook University ACHA program. Chuck was a team captain, led the program in scoring his senior year, and made all conference team. He is in his second year of coaching with Top Shelf hockey. Chuck specializes in teaching hockey sense, edge work, and stick handling. Chuck enjoys crafting players mindsets into playing smart hockey and helping them develop a scoring touch. Chuck emphasizes to players the importance of mental toughness, work ethic, and self discipline.


Coach Angelo- Offensive Coach

Angelo Les grew up for playing for Brooklyn aviator, Long Island ice cats, Staten Island Richmond thunder, Long Island Arrows and high school hockey for St Francis prep. 

After graduating high school, Angelo then went on to play juniors for the CT Junior Rangers (USPHL) and the New York Apple core (EHL). He would later get his degree from Manhattanville College (NCAA) where he finished his playing career and began his coaching career.


Angelo is on his second year of coaching and is currently coach of the Nassau County lions 16u team and St Francis prep. Angelo is a USA Hockey-certified level 2 coach. Who hopes to inspire elevate and teach the game he’s grown to love.








Coach justin “Geigs” - defensive Coach

Growing up in L’Orignal, ON, CAN, Justin played minor hockey at the AA and AAA levels in many different organizations, getting drafted by the Hawkesbury Hawks of the CCHL in the process. Finishing his minor hockey with the Canadian International Hockey Academy in 2015, he decided to join his family and move to Long Island, where he joined the Junior Royals, playing for them for three years, winning a championship in the process.



Justin’s college career began in 2018, joining the Stony Brook ACHA club team where he spent the next 4 seasons, winning a conference title with the Seawolves in 2022. At the end of his last season, Justin hung up his skates to pursue his career and also begin his passion for coaching.


A first year coach with Top SHelf hockey, Justin is excited to pass on his knowledge of the defensive aspect of the game, as well as pushing the work ethic needed to grow and become successful in the world of hockey.





Coach Thomas “Sully”- Goaltending coach

Thomas, a native of Floral Park, started his travel hockey career with the NYC Skyliners. After high school, he played junior hockey for the Metro Fighting Moose in the MJHL and the Binghamton Junior Senators in the NA3HL. 

Thomas went on to play four years at Stony Brook University for the ACHA D1 team. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management and his Masters of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Management. He was a three-time recipient of the Anthony Fronzoni Scholarship for academic excellence and significant contributions to the hockey program. 

In addition to working with Top shelf hockey, Thomas works for Mitch Korn’s Specialized Goaltending Program in the summer. Originally a participant of the program, Thomas has worked on staff and in management for Korn since 2017.
